New requirements for men of military age who apply for a permit for the first time
Who it concerns
Applications filed from 25.06.2026. It does not affect people who already hold a permit — nor their extension. Separately: men under 23 without a document of exemption hold the permit only until they turn 23.
What to do
If you are applying for the first time, prepare a document showing that you are exempt from military service.
The government has announced its intention to extend Særloven to March 2028
Who it concerns
Everyone with a permit under Særloven.
What to do
Nothing for now. The date in force is 17.03.2027. But the same government announcement also carried restrictions: no permits for people from 14 less war-affected regions (the Kyiv region, but not the city of Kyiv), extending arbejdspligt to Ukrainians, and ending schooling in English and Ukrainian. That is still only a draft too.
